About Leslie Caer Amadora

I grew up backstage and with the early experience that theater meant family. Over the years, my mother played lead roles in community theater, and my brother and I watched rehearsals and played in the theater. It wasn’t long before we had our chance on stage in Boston with my mother in “The King and I.” At 10 years old, I gathered the neighborhood kids, making my directorial debut with our own production of “The King and I.”

A lifetime later, I gathered my neighborhood friends, here in the Middlebury community, with inspiration that sparked a collaborative process which ultimately led to the screening of the short film, “The Offer” at The Marquis. Starting only with a cast of characters, we explored with improv as I wrote and rewrote a script, rehearsing and continuing to define and refine our characters and story. In the end, the characters grew to be so genuine and alive that it was hard to tell where my friends ended and the characters began.
Both of these life experiences reveal what I seek to share with others – the joy of bringing people together for the sake of playing, discovering and bringing forth some of the truest parts of ourselves. Though not always right at the surface, these inner parts of us hold gifts – among them, intuition, imagination and empathy. I believe we need to bring these gifts to the fore and out in our world, now more than ever. I hope you’ll follow your curiosity and come join me and Inside-Out.
